DOM - Dominican Republic select players for Basketball Without Borders Camp

SANTO DOMINGO (Basketball Without Borders) - Angel Rafael Castro Javier from San Carlos and Luis Guillermo Madera from Mauricio Baez were selected as the Dominican Republic representatives for the Basketball Without Borders Americas Camp that will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from June 30 until July 4.

Both players were selected by Antonio Silbilio who is in charge of the Dominican High Performance Basketball Academy and FIBA International Relations & Development Manager Anicet Lavodrama.
Angel Rafael Castro Javier is a 16 year old player who is currently playing for San Carlos in the Superior League. The 6-3 swingman has been excellent in minor competitions and is now starting to play in a higher level of local basketball.

Luis Guillermo Madera, who is also 16 years old, is part of the U21 Dominican National Team who played in the U-21 Tournaments in Puerto Rico and Halifax, Canada. He is 6-8 and plays the small and power forward positions.

The Basketball Without Borders program is a basketball instructional camp for young people that also promotes friendship, healthy living and education, features current and former FIBA/NBA players and team personnel as camp coaches.

The camps will mark a return home for top international players, reinforcing their commitment to their communities.  Argentinean sensation Emanuel Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs will return to Buenos Aires, Argentina with other FIBA/NBA players for the second annual Basketball without Borders Americas.
