BWB Asia 2006 Shanghai, 8 to 11 June All Camps

SHANGHAI 2006 – The second camp to be held in Asia took place from June 8th – 11th 2006 in Shanghai, China. 50 Asian players aged 18 and under attended the camp, along with six NBA players including Samuel Delambert of the Philadelphia 76ers and Josh Childress of the Atlanta Hawks who served as coaches.

Campers were divided into four teams and took part in daily clinics ran by the NBA players focusing on fundamental drills in shooting, passing, etc... In the afternoons and evenings the teams, coached by at least one NBA player, would compete in a small competition that lasted until the final day of the camp. An All-Star game was held on the final day of the camp, followed by an award ceremony.

Off the court, campers and NBA players alike participated in BWB’s community relations programs. Campers attended daily Life-Skills seminars, a program which aims to educate it’s participants on subjects such as the importance of teamwork, leadership qualities, and HIV/AIDS prevention and education. NBA players took part in BWB’s Legacy Project, highlighted by the creation of a community center as well as a Special Olympics Clinic hosted by the NBA players.
